Immature Female Bald Eagle

Winter and early spring are ideal times to get out an take part in a very challenging, but very rewarding activity: Bird photography. Bird Photography Locations There are many places that become great sites for birds. In the wintertime, head out into the country where there are large tracts of farmland with some fence posts. Be patient and you will very likely see Snowy Owls. They have great faces and are challenging to photograph. Try to get them in flight, particularly in a turn, what professionals call a “gesture”, rather […]

Video Tripod - Yoke

While much of what we see on YouTube is shot handheld, except for “shaky-cam” effects in movies and TV, most video shots are done from a tripod.  A good video tripod has some very specific functionality that is not found in tripods for still work.  And, like a great stills tripod, a great video tripod will last for years and years. Vacations mean carrying a lot of stuff around with you to begin with, and going to places that may be a bit camera hostile – beaches, oceans, lakes, mountains, hiking trails, boats, amusement parks, etc. You get the picture. If you and your family are headed off on vacation and it’s not a photo excursion, you still want flexibility and good […]

There’s no better way to relive and recount your travel adventures than through photos and videos. Often, though, you find yourself in a rush to capture those unexpected moments, and images and footage end up blurry. Adding a handheld gimbal like the DJI Osmo+ to your kit is an affordable and portable way to get that fluid, cinematic effect, even while running through forests or climbing over rocks.

We asked photojournalist Kibae Park to try out the DJI Osmo + while on assignment in Kyoto, Japan to see how it stacked up.
