Fuji X H2 Pro Body

Hands on with the new Fujifilm X-H2

Fujifilm debuted its brand-new X-H2 mirrorless camera in September, and Henry’s was fortunate enough to get a full hands-on experience with the compact, lightweight shooter just prior to launch. In this blog, we share the top five features of this latest addition to Fujifilm’s lineup of X Series cameras.

Top Five Fujifilm X-H2 features

1. Resolution

The number one feature of the Fujifilm X-H2 camera is its resolution, with its 40 megapixel BSI X-trans sensor and a 160 megapixel pixel shift mode.

First, let’s talk about the BSI X-trans sensor. If you’re shooting a lot of landscapes, travel photos, architecture, or high-end portraiture, you’ll appreciate the 40 megapixel sensor because it gives you more cropping and composition options without reducing clarity.

Next, there’s the 160 megapixel pixel shift mode, which is a feature unique to the Fujifilm X-H2. If you’re capturing a static subject or scene, you can put the camera on a tripod and get even larger images to work with.

Fuji X H2 Pro Body

2. Pro Body

The second great feature of the Fujifilm X-H2 camera is its pro weather-resistant body.

  • It’s comfortable. It feels dense, but isn’t heavy, and is very comfortable to hold and use.
  • It has a great viewfinder. The viewfinder gives you a 5.76 million dot experience and 120fps refresh rate that makes it easy on the eyes—and delivers impressive detail.
  • It’s impressively sturdy. The LCD screen doesn’t wobble or shift out of place and the lens mount is reinforced, giving you complete stability however you shoot.

Bring all of this together with a shutter rated for over 500,000 shots and you have a camera that makes it easy to capture a lot – with confidence, comfort and reliability.

Fuji X H2 8K Video

3. 8K 30P Video

Next up is video: The Fujifilm X-H2 captures high-res, 8K 30P video (provided you have memory available). It’s not something that everyone needs for their creative work, but it’s a feature that we believe many photographers will take advantage of because of the interesting opportunities it presents, like:

  • Pulling super high-resolution stills
  • Recomposing footage in post-production to get a very different look
  • Taking a vertical cut without having to switch your camera into a vertical mode

Fuji X H2 Autofocus

4. Autofocus

Number four on the list is autofocus. The Fujifilm X-H2 has more autofocus points than the X-H2S and based on our testing, the autofocus is significantly better than older generation Fujifilm cameras.

When you pick up the X-H2 you’ll notice the upgrade to the autofocus right away. To maximize the camera’s incredibly reliable autofocus system, we recommend taking the time to adjust your autofocus for what you’re capturing using the customizable settings in the menu.

Fuji X H2 Robust Features

5. Robust feature suite

The fifth and final top benefit of the Fujifilm X-H2is its robust feature suite. Fujifilm is one of the few companies that doesn’t hold back on features—and the X-H2 delivers significant value. Fujifilm has designed the X-H2 to be an incredible creative tool that will keep you shooting for longer and longer. Here are just a few areas where the X-H2 goes above and beyond:

  • Records professional resolution video internally
  • Has 13+ stops of dynamic range
  • Captures 40 megapixel photos at up to 20 frames per second
  • Includes tons of film simulations
  • Has seven highly customizable modes in a heat controlled body

“Anything they can throw in, they’re going to try and throw in. This is why Fuji users love Fujifilm,” Gajan Balan, Henry’s Camera.

The Fujifilm X-H2 is a camera you can experiment with and grow into, and one that will give you way more ceiling for your creative journey.
