Nikon Full-Frame Mirrorless

Nikon has just announced the development of a next-generation (Nikon FX-format) mirrorless camera engineered around a full-frame sensor.

Confirmed in Nikon’s July 25, 2018 press release, this announcement comes after years of rumours. Nikon has given few details on the development of this new camera other than the system will have a new lens mount requiring new lenses for this mirrorless camera. An F-mount adapter will also be available for Nikon photographers allowing them to use existing gear.

Brief History of Nikon Mirrorless Cameras

This is Nikon’s second mirrorless camera with the 1 Series cameras being the first. This camera was based on a 1-inch sensor but never really took off. Nikon has confirmed that the 1 Series cameras and lenses are no longer in production, making this new announcement even more exciting.

More details about this camera are hard to come by and Nikon is only saying that the release date and price details will be shared “at a later date”.
